A MINI festival showcasing films made by children and young people from Brighton is taking place this weekend.
Dukes at The Komedia in Gardner Street will be rolling out the red carpet for the special screenings on Saturday.
The venue will play host to Sparks Film and Media Arts as they showcase six films that have been written, directed, produced and filmed by young people aged eight to 15 from Brighton and Hove.
The filmmaking school launched in February this year and runs weekly classes and holiday camps for children and young people.
It has worked with over 70 young people from the area and will be screening A Spy Through Time, Cartoon Chaos, The Puppeteer, The Blue Unknown, Senseless, and Wild Science! as well as some of their favourite “mini films” created by the Sparks Crew.
Nick Ford, head of school, said: “We’ve been blown away by the creativity and dedication of all of our young filmmakers since we launched.
“They’ve produced such awesome and technical films and it’s been an absolute joy to work with them.
“We thought it was time to showcase these films on the big screen as a way of celebrating the incredible work of our young crew and say a big thank you to the wonderful families, children and young people who we’ve had the pleasure of working with.”
The free event is from 11.30am to 1.30pm on Saturday at The Komedia and tickets are available from Eventbrite.
