A SUPERMARET chain has launched its initial plans to regenerate a town centre – and is asking for the public’s help.

Morrisons has revealed images of how the Meridian Centre, Peacehaven, will look, and said the project will create 390 jobs.

The new “vibrant” town centre will include a range of commercial, retail and community facilities –with a new Morrisons supermarket at the centre.

Justin Lawrence, senior property manager at Morrisons, said: “This development offers a great opportunity to provide a new town centre for Peacehaven and its community.

“Our investment will create local employment and improve shopping choice in a town that is currently poorly served by major supermarkets.

“We want to hear the views of the public, so would be grateful if people could come to our exhibition or visit the consultation website to find more information and let us know what they think of the plans.”

Residents can have their say through a new consultation website – www.morrisons-peacehaven.co.uk – and a public consultation exhibition.

People will be able to find out more information and give their feedback direct to Morrisons.

The public exhibition will be held in the vacant Unit 4/5 at the Meridian Centre on Friday, September 30 from 4pm until 8pm and on Saturday, October 1 from 10am until 2pm.

A planning application for the principle, scale and design of the development will shortly be submitted to Lewes District Council.
