A COMMUNITY football club will not be allowing some children to enter home matches without an adult accompanying them due to recent behaviour at matches.

Peacehaven and Telscombe FC, in Piddinghoe Avenue, Peacehaven, made the announcement after its home victory against Saltdean United on Tuesday night.

The club will now only allow in under 18s with a youth membership card, or children accompanied by an adult for its home matches.

The club confirmed it has not reported anything to the police yet and wants to prevent problems escalating to that.

Sue Norwood, chairwoman, said: “Due to recent activities at our evening games, it is with deep regret that we are needing to change our under 18 spectator approach.

“From September 21, any child without a youth membership card has to be accompanied by an adult to any evening games.

“The adult will have to be aware of the whereabouts of these children and there will be no access to the clubhouse without their responsible adult.

“We will continue to monitor this, as a community club we want to be here for our youth community but cannot afford for matches to be at risk of abandonment.”

The club confirmed the youths in question are not connected to the football club in any form and it is believed they do not come to watch the team.
