PART of the A259 near the city has been closed due to an ongoing police incident.
Ovingdean roundabout, near Blind Veterans hospital, is closed and there are several emergency services vehicles at the scene.
At least four police cars are at the scene, as well as three road ambulances and one air ambulance.
Sussex Police confirmed it has closed the roundabout while it deals with the “ongoing incident”.
A spokesman said: “There will be a heightened police presence in the area for some time.
“Please find an alternative route where possible.
“We thank you for your patience at this time.”
Sussex Police have been approached for further comment.
