A TOWN centre ice rink is returning for the Christmas season, and it is said to be “bigger and better” than before,
Skaters will be taking to Eastbourne’s Lightning Fibre Ice Rink in the town centre this December.
The rink will be open from December 1 to January 8, located in front of the Enterprise Shopping Centre.
It will be open from 10am to 8pm weekdays and 10am to 10pm at weekends, with further town centre Christmas events due to be announced over the coming weeks.
With tickets on sale from September 30, people are being urged to book early to avoid missing out after last year’s sell out success, and to take advantage of early bird tickets.
Early bird tickets cost £12 per adult, £8 per child or £30 per family, with skate hire included.
Organised by Your Eastbourne, the Business Improvement District (Bid), the ice rink is once again sponsored by Lightning Fibre.
Chief Executive of Your Eastbourne Bid, Stephen Holt said: “The support for the Lightning Fibre Ice Rink last year was just incredible, with over 17,000 skaters in its first year, we simply couldn’t wait to announce its return.
“We saw a large number of sold out sessions last year, so when the box office opens next Friday, I would urge everyone to get your skates on and book as soon as possible to avoid missing out.”
This year will see a series of new sessions at the rink with reduced numbers for the serious skaters.
At all regular sessions the Booksy penguin skate aids will once again be available to hire for children and for those who need a little extra support.
School sessions at reduced prices will also be available to book in advance and lockers will be available throughout.
Ben Ferriman, CEO and founder of Lightning Fibre said: “The success last year was phenomenal, and we’re thrilled to play our part in bringing the Eastbourne Lightning Fibre Ice Rink back, bigger and better, for 2022.
“This is just one of many community engagement initiatives for Lightning Fibre across East Sussex, and we’re proud to ‘do our bit’ for the communities we serve.”
Eastbourne Borough Council’s head of tourism and culture Annie Wills, said: “We’re delighted to see the return of the ice rink.
“There is so much going on this Christmas from Panto to Christmas shopping events and the ice rink is the icing on the cake.
“There really is every reason to make a day of it in Eastbourne and get into the festive spirit, or even book a short break.”
