AN AQUARIUM is to host a theatre company as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations.

The Sea Life Centre in Brighton is welcoming Brighton Little Theatre Co on Friday and Saturday.

Performances will include a family friendly adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest

Neil Harris, Sea Life Brighton general manager, said: "I'm thrilled to be continuing our 150th anniversary celebrations by remembering our time as a theatre.

“The building has been home to so many wonderful memories over the years.

“It has been fantastic for us to celebrate them this year and now we can continue to do so with the help of the Brighton Little Theatre co.

"We can't wait to watch The Little Tempest and know it will be a great show for all."

The performance will be an immersive production, moving through the aquarium, encouraging the audience to participate with actors, paying homage to days when the venue was used as a theatre.

Claire Lewis, director of Brighton Little Theatre Co said: "When I was asked to devise a production to stage in the world's oldest aquarium, Shakespeare's The Tempest, with its themes of mystery and magic, seemed like the obvious choice.

“It's always been a passion of mine to make Shakespeare accessible to everyone, especially to young people."

There will be performances at 5.30pm and 7.30pm both days. Tickets are available from the Sea Life Centre.
