It wasn't just Irish eyes that were smiling as Ed Byrne took to the Udderbelly stage last night. His hour-long set, inspired by the Michael Douglas film Falling Down, consisted of Byrne divulging his list of pet hates, with everything from smug parents to Jade Goody's lack of talent being subjected to his quick wit.
Highlights for me included the energetic mime of a boy being beaten up for his anti-bullying wristband, and the concept that levels of customer service in Britain would be significantly increased if there were a lower level of gun control, as in America.
Byrne started the show by explaining how it normally runs at an hour and a half, and I did feel he was rushing at times, checking his watch to make sure he wasn't running over.
A shame really, as the crowd seemed more than happy to let this aggrieved Irishman carry on ranting.
