As someone from an ethnic minority, I was angry at the assertion by the Greens' Moyra Martin (Letters, May 6), that the supporters of Dawn Smith at the Worthing election count faced "discrimination".
Hippies are not a persecuted minority. Dislike of black people is racism, but dislike of hippies? To insinuate discrimination or intolerance diverts concern away from the genuinely victimised.
That Dawn Smith's supporters are a small minority and one that was roundly rejected at the ballot box is not due to discrimination or intolerance.
It is because the public can clearly see they will never achieve anything.
