This musical's publicity promised a lot but sadly the show failed to deliver - which is a pity as the cast put in a lot of effort trying to make it work.
The main fault is the writing - at times muddled with jokes that either do not work or are just not funny.
In addition, some performances are either wooden or played way over the top.
The production uses a pantomime style presentation - plenty of bawdy double entendres and slapstick with a couple of production numbers that stand out - Bring Out Your Dead and It's The Pits are both lively and energetic.
Josh Boyd-Rochford as Tom, the hero, has a fine singing voice and Pip Swallow is excellent as Gwen.
As well as writing the show and performing, Julian Bain also directed it and that is where the problem lies.
A dispassionate outsider could have spotted the problems.
