A POP-UP art exhibition and sale is taking place this weekend to raise money for a homeless charity.

The BHT Sussex event, featuring the work of many well-known local artists, will take place on Saturday.

This exhibition of work donated by over 20 artists - from across the city and beyond - will be held at 35 North Gallery, North Road in Brighton and will be open from 10am to 5.30pm.

Prices range from £35 to £800 and all proceeds will go to First Base Day Centre.

This centre is run by BHT Sussex and provides support and advice to people who are rough sleeping or vulnerably housed.

There are also four items by Fiona Watson, the highest-selling print artist in Scotland who has a family link to the charity.

Organiser Alison Boyce said: “I have been touched by the generosity of the artist community in Brighton and Hove and humbled by the personal stories about homelessness that have come out in the process.

“All who have donated work want to raise money and raise awareness about an issue that can affect anybody at any stage of their life.

“I am also very grateful to Clive Emson Auctioneers for supporting this event and 35 North Gallery for donating the gallery space”.

Jo Berry, head of business development at BHT Sussex, said: “We are very grateful that so many artists have shown their support for our work.

“Money raised from the event will enable us to provide food, hot showers, and clean clothes along with essential advice and support for rough sleepers in our city.”

The online catalogue is available on the gallery’s website.
