POLICE responded to a report of a young person with a "knife" at a parade of shops which have seen problems with a wave of youth crime.

Officers chased the 15-year-old boy on foot from The Causeway in Durrington and arrested him nearby on Tuesday night.

The object was in fact a piece of “building material” – not a knife as reported. Other objects were also taken from the boy.

He was found with cannabis and was issued with a community resolution.
