WORTHING has been transformed into a 1920s seafront resort as part of filming for a new film starring Timothy Spall and Olivia Colman.
Deckchairs have lined the street near Worthing Lido, with a range of Twenties-era food stands and posters, as part of production for the period film Wicked Little Letters.
Filming has been taking place along the town’s esplanade for the last few days, with BAFTA-nominated Timothy Spall seen walking alongside a 1920s-era policeman.
It comes after Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman was spotted filming in Arundel for the film, set in Littlehampton in the 1920s.
The comedy follows a group of women who set out to solve the mystery of who is writing “scandalous and obscene” letters to people in the town.
Olivia Coleman and Timothy Spall also star alongside Chernobyl actress Jessie Buckley, Les Miserables star Hugh Skinner, and Joanna Scanlan from BBC comedy series The Thick of It.
The release date of the film, based on a true story, has yet to be announced.
Michael Caine was also recently spotted on a Sussex beach ahead of his latest film appearance in The Great Escaper, a film based on Hove veteran Bernard Jordan, who escaped from his care home to attend the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France.
Several productions have been filmed across Sussex in recent years, including the upcoming Harry Styles film My Policeman, 1940s drama Summerland, and the ITV crime drama Grace - based on novels by Brighton author Peter James.
