A MAN has been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was assaulted in a town centre.

Police were called to Seaside in Eastbourne yesterday evening following reports of an attack.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

A 44-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and remains in police custody.

Forensics investigations were carried out after the incident, which happened shortly after 7.45pm yesterday.

Officers were taking pictures outside a convenience store in Seaside, with the area around the store taped off and a police cordon set up along Ceylon Place.

Police are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances, including what may have caused the boy's injuries.
