THERE are four miles of queues on the A259 due to roadworks.

Roadworks and temporary traffic lights caused severe delays for traffic near Chene Road, between Peacehaven and Newhaven.

Queues are around four miles long through Newhaven all the way to Beacon Road in Seaford on the westbound side.

It is taking around one hour to get through westbound.

The queues eastbound go back to Sutton Avenue in Peacehaven.

They are taking around 30 minutes to get through.

There is also traffic on the C7 from Piddinghoe due to roadworks.

One motorist said it was moving slowly but was at a standstill as he got to the east side of Peacehaven.

Another person said the works caused a lot of people a "miserable evening".
