Gatwick Airport has announced over 50 flights a week to New York, Boston and other American cities over the Christmas period.

An increased schedule will be put into place from Monday, October 31, to cater for those looking to cross the Atlantic around the holiday season.

Stephanie Wear, head of aviation development at Gatwick, said: “We are delighted to be building back our popular connections to North America post the pandemic.

"It’s exciting to be able to offer passengers more choice once again, when travelling between Gatwick and the USA.”

Flights will be provided by British Airways as well as JetBlue and Norse Atlantic. The airport will also see American airline Delta return from April, following the pandemic.

Tthe airport is looking to bring transatlantic flights back to pre-pandemic levels.

The increased timetable will be made up of about four daily flights to New York, as well as 11 flights a week to Orlando, Florida and daily trips to Boston.
