A MAN has been taken to hospital in a serious condition following a crash earlier today.

An eyewitness described seeing a van mount the kerb before a casualty was put into an ambulance 

The ambulance service said a man had collapsed in a vehicle in Kemp Town this afternoon.

Police said there had been a collision involving two vehicles. The road was closed by officers.

Sussex Police said officers responded to reports of an incident just after 1.50pm.

A spokesman said: “The road was closed while emergency services, including colleagues from Secamb, attend the scene.

“The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.”

Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) were seen taking the man to hospital at around 2.20pm.

He is now being treated at Royal Sussex County Hospital. No further information about his condition is available at present.

The road has now reopened following the incident.
