Brighton’s baking star surprised the judges with insect truffles during last night’s Halloween themed episode of the Great British Bake Off.
The episode also saw Janusz Domagala sporting a pair of zebra print boots as he embodied Great British Bake Off host Noel Feilding.
The bakers were tasked with three spooky bakes: firstly, an apple cake signature, a s’more-ish technical and a supernatural showstopping piñata.
All the contestants dressed up for the occasion and Janusz donned a pair of the host’s trademark footwear and some eyeliner.
“I have decided to dress up as Noel, but I will call myself Not Fielding,” he said.
“So I’m baking in heels.”
“Look at those,” said Noel.
“I like the eye makeup too,” said judge Prue Leith.
The 34-year-old had a difficult week with his flavours.
The judges were not satisfied with the flavouring of his signature bake; however he placed highly in the technical-winning second place, and surprised the judges with his Hallowe’en horror movie popcorn’ lantern that contained insects.
“You should have had more crickets in there,” said Prue.
“Crickets have a lovely savoury flavour.”
The two-time star baker will battle on for the Bake Off crown in custard week.
