Four arrests have been made after a car chase where a police vehicle was “rammed”.
The pursuit occurred after the car was later spotted driving the wrong way around roundabouts and speeding on the A283 towards Shoreham.
The suspects, aged between 17 and 20, were arrested at 2am on Wednesday, October 9, on suspicion of various offences including failing to stop, driving while over the drug driving limit and possession of a lock knife.
All suspects remain in custody.
The PCSO, whose car was rammed in Beachcroft Place in Lancing, is receiving specialist support but was not injured in the incident.
Chief Inspector Sarah Leadbitter, Adur and Worthing district commander, said: “This incident shows some of the challenges faced by our officers and PCSOs on a daily basis.
“The suspect vehicle was identified, and officers in the area from different units demonstrated great teamwork.
"They acted swiftly to bring the suspect vehicle safely to a stop and prevent it from posing a risk of harm to other road users."
The vehicle was also spotted driving on the A264 towards Horsham, where it failed to stop for police.
The arrest included members of the road policing unit, tactical firearms unit, as well as police dogs.
