A woman and her dog have been crowned winners of a top agility prize.
Karen Young and her three-year-old bearded collie called Rock Madrigal took part in London’s biggest dog event, Discover Dogs, last weekend.
The pair, from Bognor, won the Starters Cup Final for large dogs at the ExCel exhibition centre in the capital.
Karen said: “Madrigal is the seventh beardie I've owned and trained in agility, and she has been the most challenging, difficult and stubborn dog to date - which makes this success all the more special.
“She is the fifth dog I have managed to qualify to run at Discover Dogs, so this is a huge personal achievement for me.”
The Starters Cup is the top competition for dogs new to agility.
The event was run by The Kennel Club, an organisation which oversees dog shows and dog agility events across the UK.
Vanessa McAlpine, events executive at the company, said: “The Starters Cup is a wonderful opportunity for dogs who are relatively new to agility to perform in front of big crowds.
“Congratulations to Karen and Madrigal for winning the final against some tough competition, we are sure to be seeing them in future competitions.”
