Fans had more to be positive about despite Albion’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City at the weekend.

There was frustration at the stalemate with Forest on Tuesday.

But travelling fans were in fine voice at the Etihad Stadium in what was a positive performance from Brighton.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring 22 minutes in after a delightful ball from City’s keeper Ederson.

The Norwegian evaded the onrushing Rob Sanchez and out-muscled Adam Webster to slot home into an open net.

There was frustration from both sets of fans towards referee Craig Pawson at some of the VAR decisions.

Bernardo Silva won the home side a penalty on the verge of half time which was converted by Haaland.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side improved in the second half with some City fans joking that Albion “looked more like City than them”.

Brighton fans were encouraged by some of the sleek football played by the Albion from back to front at the Etihad.

This would pay off after a fantastic save from Sanchez at one end was brought forward by the Seagulls and smashed home at the near post by Leandro Trossard 53 minutes in.

Albion continued pushing and had the best of the second half but City’s quality shone through to kill off the game when Kevin De Bruyne curled a shot into the top left hand corner to make it 3-1 with 15 minutes to go.
