Stargazers were dazzled by a partial solar eclipse visible in the sky across the city.

Around a quarter of the sun was blocked out from 10am until almost midday in Brighton as the moon passed between it and the Earth.

Observers in western Siberia in Russia had the best views, but the phenomenon could still be seen across the UK.

Clouds across Sussex parted to allow a glimpse at the celestial phenomenon, with one Argus Camera Club photographer even spotting two sunspots.

According to Nasa’s eclipse prediction calculator, the next partial solar eclipse visible from the UK will take place on March 29, 2025.

However, stargazers hoping to see a full solar eclipse from Sussex will have a very long wait, as the next one won’t take place until September 23, 2090.
