Arc Relaunch, Arc, Brighton, from June 1 afternoon The creators of Holdup! have been given free rein at the Arc club on Brighton Beach. Iain Huddy and Michelle Rabassa have taken over the seafront venue and are introducing a host of new nights, alongside their long-running flagship indie party.

"We have been running Holdup! for five years and we were told an indie night couldn't work on the beach," says Iain.

"600 people each week don't share that opinion. It seems the rest of the seafront is finally catching up with us, so we plan to keep ahead of the pack."

The venue's new line-up will launch on Sunday with a Soul Alldayer, which will run every week throughout the summer, playing the best of Motown, Stax and northern soul.

Other new arrivals will be 1960's night Sweet And Dandy on Fridays (11pm-3am, £3), reggae party Tighten Up on Wednesdays (8pm-11pm, free) and "indie to cheer your cockles" on Mondays with Night-mares By Sea (8pm-11pm, free).

Best of all, the wonderful Dynamite Boogaloo will be relocating to Arc as of next Thursday (10.30pm-3am, £1 before 11pm, £3/£2 after). Hosted as ever by Boogaloo Stu and Miss Dolly Rocket, the night will include the usual unhinged cabaret and a playlist of "pop, krunk, indie-funk & electro junk".

The Pipettes will be playing a special gig there on Thursday, June 12.

Iain and Michelle have also opened the kitchen, with pizzas on sale day and night.
