Councillor Jan Young, Brighton and Hove City Council cabinet member for finance, and Averil Older, Conservative councillor for Central Hove, should have a look at the cycle lane in Grand Avenue when the refuse vehicle is parked at the top of the now very narrow single lane.

Drivers intending to turn left at the traffic lights in Church Road, have no idea it is there until they turn the corner. The sight of motorists then having to make a difficult manoeuvre to find a way out, or wait while the refuse workers complete their job, while the traffic builds up around them, would be laughable if it were not for the fact that the council has created a dangerous situation.

Did no one at the council foresee this? Also, did they not realise what an ugly mess they have now made of the whole of Grand Avenue in their obsession to encourage more cyclists to come into the centre?
