The organisers of a highly anticipated event have apologised for the “delay” in processing refunds after it was postponed following the death of the Queen.

Brighton’s first Pub in the Park was due to take place on September 16 to 18 in Preston Park, but was pushed back to May next year out of respect to the late monarch whose funeral was held on September 19.

Disgruntled ticket holders who could not make the new date took to social media to express their frustration at the lack of communication from Pub in the Park, after they were advised to submit refund requests.

A Pub in the Park spokesman said refunds will be processed on November 18 and hinted at “exciting plans” for next year’s event that will be published in the coming weeks.

They promised a “bigger, better line-up” for next year and said the team is looking forward to bringing the major event to the city.

The three-day festival will feature live music, cooking demonstrations from big names, shopping and other entertainment.

“The postponement of this year’s Brighton Pub in the Park due to the death of the Queen was obviously difficult and has caused considerable disruption,” said the spokesman.

“We’ve been working hard to finalise our plans for next year, which will be published over the next two weeks. It has taken us longer than anticipated to do so, whilst also dealing with refund enquiries.

“We’re sorry for the delay.

“We’re about to confirm very exciting plans for next year and will share the news with our existing customers first, some of whom have requested a refund.

“We continue to look forward to bringing Pub in the Park to Preston Park in Brighton next year, with a bigger, better line-up, and the party we all regret we missed out on this September.

“Refunds for those who still want them post-announcement of our new line-up, will be processed on 18th November.”
