The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain from midnight tonight.

It will last until 3pm tomorrow, with the forecaster saying there will be “persistent, sometimes heavy rain”.

People can expect spray and flooding on roads which will likely increase journey times.

Bus and train services will probably be affected.

While flooding of some homes and business is possible.

A Met Office spokeswoman said: “Heavy rain will affect south eastern parts of England during Thursday morning, clearing eastwards early afternoon.

“Twenty to 30 mm of rain is expected fairly widely, with 40 mm in a few places near English Channel coasts.

“The ground is fairly wet, and recent fallen leaves may reduce drainage of surface water in some locations.”

It comes after Storm Claudio caused disruption across Sussex yesterday as heavy winds and torrential rain hit the county.

Roads were flooded and trains were disrupted.

The storm even caused a large collapse on the south west corner of West Pier.

Preston Park fireworks display and funfair has also been cancelled tonight due to strong winds.

There will be windspeeds of up to 44mph in Brighton at 9pm tonight.
