A stolen van crashed into a moped and a cyclist before its driver and passengers dumped the vehicle and ran off.

The incident happened just after 4.30pm on Thursday, May 29 near the junction of White Chimney Row and Mill Lane, Southbourne, near Chichester.

The van is believed to have hit a moped, knocking a 57-year-old local man off and injuring him.

Moments later the van collided with a 66-year-old cyclist, who was later taken to St Richard's Hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

The van then crashed into a mound and three men jumped out and ran off from the scene, one down a track towards Westbourne.

They are described as being in their late teens, with short brown hair, about 5ft 9in and wearing tracksuit bottoms.

One wore a pink striped top, another a blue and grey striped hooded top and the third a dark coloured top.

DS Jason Vickers said: "We are keen to talk with anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information in relation to the identity of the three men.

"This is a serious crash, which has resulted in two men being injured, one seriously."
