Police investigating a seafront rape claim are searching CCTV images for clues.

A 19-year-old girl made a complaint to police that she was raped in King's Road, Brighton, at 11.40pm on Thursday.

She said a man walked towards her between Buddies restaurant and the Old Ship hotel, grabbed her around the waist, pulled her into a nearby doorway and raped her. He is described as Asian-looking, under 30 years old, with short black hair. He was wearing a white hooded top and a diamante earring.

Detective Inspector Carwyn Hughes said: "We are trawling all the CCTV and we are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

"There must have been people in the area.

"If anyone noticed anything strange we do ask that that be reported."
