Christ Hospital is a school known for its traditional way of life, from its unique uniform to marching into lunch. One of their more fun traditions is something they like to call House singing. This is a friendly competition in which all pupils of the school must take part. Each respective boarding house chooses a song and is given weeks to practice. The school then comes together to listen to one another, and a winner is selected by an external judge.
This year during October, Christ Hospital continued the student favourite tradition. Many familiar songs were sung such as Sir Duke – by Stevie Wonder; Viva La Vida – by Coldplay and Wings – By Little Mix. Each house brought a different but refreshing feeling with their chosen songs which brought out a good reaction amongst the crowd. After two music-filled hours Don’t stop me now – by Queen (sung by Maine A) took first place out of the boy houses, and You’re never fully dressed without a smile – by Sia (sung by Thornton B) took home first place for the girls.
The energy didn’t seem to stop there though, many students continued to celebrate the joyous event days after the event took place creating another batch of warm memories. Many of the students had positive things to say about the whole ordeal. ‘Exhilarating, and the atmosphere is absolutely magical’- Moses Olajide ‘I think that everyone was amazing.’ Brianna Howell-Ogu. ‘An atmosphere I’d like to experience over and over again’ Estelle Amoo-Caeser
Many pupils think it was a great way to end their half term and many can’t wait to partake again next year.
