These shocking images show flooding in a village that was hit with over a month's rainfall in a week.

The River Arun at Pulborough topped its banks and is flooding into nearby fields.

It comes after a week of Met Office weather warnings in Sussex and flood alerts across the region.

Pulborough has hit by 100mm of rainfall in the last week.

The Environment Agency said the flooding could affect nearby roads including the A29 at Pulborough.

It said: "Water will be extensive through fields and could affect properties on Lower Street and Swan Corner, Pulborough, near to Swan Bridge and Bridge Cottages, Greatham.

"Water will be close to the tops of the banks near Houghton Bridge, Amberley and may approach riverside properties, including near St Edmunds Cottage, Houghton."

Very little rain is forecast for the rest of the week, but the river will continue to respond to the rainfall over recent days.

The Arun has slowed in its rise, but levels will not return to normal until next week.
