A new adventure park has opened at the site of a former Debenhams.

Owens is an indoor adventure park with crazy golf, amusements, bowling and much more.

It spans three floors in Roberston Street, Hastings, offering entertainment for the whole family.

Former shop floors have been converted into immersive experiences including a smuggler’s cave and a wild west salon.

There is also two virtual reality experiences, an indoor garden bar and a pirate shop themed restaurant with views of Hastings beach.

Owens was founded by Lubov Chernukhin and Graham Owen. The pair said they would like to replicate the project in empty Debenhams stores elsewhere to “revive failing high street.”

Ms Chernukhin said: “The high street has traditionally been a source of pride, community and jobs for towns and cities across the country. The closure of prominent high street chains like Debenhams causes decline in local communities like Hastings.

“Repurposing these sites is a wonderful way to rejuvenate town centres, bringing life and business back into the communities."

Mr Owen said: “We wanted to do something different, something immersive and adventurous. The high street is facing a challenge to reinvent itself and Owens is keen to meet that challenge.

“By bringing this Debenhams site back to life, Owens has helped bring a new purpose and reason for the people of Hastings and surrounding areas to return to the High street.”

Owens has created over 100 full-time and part-time jobs in Hastings so far.

The Mayor of Hastings, Councillor James Bacon, thanked Owens for providing a new attraction to the town centre.

“Hastings deserves this attraction at the centre of our Borough and we are excited to welcome Owens” said Cllr Bacon.

The adventure park opened on Thursday, November 10.
