Rod Ackers mentioned Fairlight School (Letters, May 23). That brought back memories.
I started at Fairlight Junior School in 1943. I came to Brighton from Tiverton, Devon.
I can remember headteacher Miss Blackman and Miss Cox.
Whatever happened to these boys and girls: Teddy Holgate, Leslie Rolf, Bert Page, Denis Youngman, and my cousin Keith Blunt and Pat Mitchell?
I can remember them sending me a bundle of comics when I was in hospital. Also, Brian Attree, George Novis and Donald Edge.
Where are they now?
I went from there to Coombe Road School and then to Moulsecoomb County Secondary, leaving school in 1947.
Those were carefree days, you felt a lot safer then than you do now. In those days, they taught the three Rs and discipline and respect.
Thank you Mr Ackers for bringing back many happy memories.
