G Price asserts that "George is an eminently suitable saint for England" (Letters, May 27).

Like most advocates of George's suitability as our patron saint, Mr Price overlooks the awkward fact that he is not even a saint.

In 1969 when the Roman Catholic Church had a clear-out of saintly personages whose authenticity was dubious, George was relieved of his sainthood.
