Although I do not agree with everything Steven Windsor says about older drivers (Letters, May 16), I have to agree with him that some older drivers think they drive wonderfully.

I had two friends who would drive like Thora Hird in Last Of The Summer Wine. They would blame everything, the car, other drivers and even pedestrians rather than themselves.

I remember once going into a car park for 50 cars.

There was just one car parked there. When a friend reversed the car, she hit the other car and blamed it on the parked car for being parked in the wrong spot.

I think when we get to 70 we should take another driving test. As Mr Windsor says, there is a very good free bus service for the over-60s. I know what he is also saying about older people talking to "Maud" while driving.

Unfortunately, I was that Maud.
