Two ferry services across the English Channel have been cancelled due to bad weather.

DFDS Seaways, which runs the Newhaven Dieppe route, made the announcement just after 3pm today.

The 11pm ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe and the 5.30am ferry from Dieppe tomorrow are cancelled.

Wind speeds will be between 44mph and 63mph from 10pm tonight.

The Met Office website states there will be strong to gale force winds, as well as “severe gales” affecting parts of the English Channel.

There is also a yellow weather warning from 5pm today until 6am tomorrow.

DFDS said that all passengers are being contacted to be transferred and apologised for any inconvenience.
