In secondary schools there are alot of funding problems that occur due to the government ignorance. Many schools in the UK are getting aggravated by the lack of equipment that is given by the gov.   Pupils at many state-funded schools in England are missing out on practical science experiments because of a lack of basic equipment not provided for from the government.

An interview with a secondary school science teacher from St Catherines College gives us an insight of the real finiancial struggle that schools have to go through.

Do you think that the lab equipment at your school is practical for your students' work?

I think that the equipment given to us does a sufficient job for the students. We are able to carry out most of the experiments that we need to do. It would be better if our resources were upgraded as we have to make do with quite old and outdated equipment.

Do you think that the school could provide you with newer stuff or do you think that they have given you all that they have?

There is definently a lack of funding from the government and we at St Catherines College cannot afford to buy nicer things sometimes we are lucky if equipment is donated to us.

What has happened to government level-up funding in education?

Government promises to level-up funding in education have resulted in money being shifted away from schools in the most disadvantaged areas and invested in pupils in more prosperous areas of England

In conclusion, I think that the government should concentrate on suppoerting secondary schools and people should try to donate to schools that are in need.
