Part of the M23 is closed after heavy rain caused widespread flooding across Sussex.
Traffic is queuing along the M23 in both directions around Junction 10 between A264 Copthorne Way in Crawley and Junction 11 in Pease Pottage.
A diversion is in place into Crawley via the A23 and the A2011. Motorists going northbound should follow signs with a square, while those travelling southbound should follow signs marked with a diamond.
It comes as motorists were rescued from vehicles overnight after becoming stranded on the A27 as heavy rain caused flooding across the county.
Some 20 cars were towed from floodwater along the road by emergency services, with police urging drivers to be cautious on the roads this morning.
Parts of Sussex saw more than 50mm (two inches) of rain in just 24 hours, with several red flood alerts issued.
Train services were also severely disrupted, with rail operators advising against travelling after flooding blocked lines between Brighton, Haywards Heath and Lewes.
