Hotels can help with a lot of requests but organising to DJ with Fatboy Slim is a bit beyond them.

That is just one of the bizarre requests that Travelodge says it has received over the past year from guests at its Brighton and Hastings hotels.

The chain has released the list of questions customers have asked, ranging from slightly silly to pretty impossible.

Among the odd requests are:

  •  “Where is Brighton rock?” – Brighton hotel
  •  “What time can we feed the stingrays at the aquarium?” – Brighton hotel
  • “What time are The Lanes performing?” – Hastings hotel

Another request received by the team included a meet and greet with a special Brighton celebrity.

The question, received at the Brighton hotel, said: “My son wants to DJ with Fatboy Slim, can you arrange it?”

A Travelodge spokeswoman said: “Where possible, our hotel teams will go above and beyond to help customers as they relish a good challenge. However, there are some requests beyond their control such as arranging for a guest’s son to achieve a life-long ambition of spinning the decks with Fatboy Slim.”

Other bizarre requests included asking staff to take a large amethyst crystal to Brighton beach at 7am to be recharged by the sun.

Another guest, who was particularly keen on meeting players from their favourite football team, asked: “Can you arrange for my husband to have breakfast with The Seagulls?”

Many of the requests centred around the Brighton i360, formerly the British Airways i360. One customer asked: “Do I need a passport to travel on the BA i360?” Another simply wanted to know what time the i360 “takes off”.

Travelodge said it had an influx of people coming to its hotels for staycations as Covid-19 restrictions began to ease in other countries.

The hotel chain also released a list of the bizarre requests it had received across the UK, including one guest who asked whether she could “wear Meghan Markle’s Giorgio Armani dress from the fashion museum for my 40th birthday party”.

Another customer in London asked whether the London Eye could be changed to rotate anti-clockwise.
