A salon owner has spoken of her pride after winning hairdresser of the year.

Lauren Walder Hair and Extensions in Brighton was awarded the accolade by The Argus after people voted for their favourite hairdressers.

The salon has not even reached its first anniversary of opening, but owner Lauren Walder said it has already achieved a lot.

“I feel very proud of the salon and the team,” she said.

“The salon’s not even been open a year yet.

“I feel like it’s achieved a lot in a short time.

“We are all about making our clients feel comfortable whilst achieving high standards of hair.

“Winning awards like this will inspire confidence when new clients choose to visit us.

“Winning this award gives us recognition for our hard work.

“The fact clients have taken the time to vote for us means the world to us all.

“Winning is the most amazing way to finish our first year.”

Ms Walder owns the salon with her husband, who took on most of the refurbishment work.

The hairdresser had been working at the salon for eight years before taking it over.

“I was lucky enough to already be part of the team and know the clients well,” she said.

“So when the opportunity came up it just felt right.

“Since the salon’s new look, we’ve attracted lots more new clients.”

Ms Walder’s plans for the future include a charity raffle for Martlets Hospice and a party to celebrate the business’ first anniversary.
