Pictures show essential works being carried out at a pier.
Maintenance work has begun at Worthing Pier, with engineers replacing landing stage timbers, metal tie bars and beams.
Contractors JT Mackley Co can be seen working into the evening at the pier.
A spokesman from Worthing Borough Council said: “The current works to Worthing Pier are part of the standard maintenance works programme to the substructure and landing stage which are undertaken all year round when low tides are suitable to undertake works.
“The pier is inspected on a quarterly basis and works identified are carried out on the following suitable low tides.
“Typical pier substructure and landing stage maintenance works involve repair and replacement to landing stage timbers, metal ties bars and beams on the pier substructure.
“The contractor undertaking the works is JT Mackley Co Ltd who are the recently appointed term maintenance contractor.”
