The A27 is to be partially closed as part of repair works in December, National Highways has announced.

The road, which has already been closed near Lewes, will now see additional closures in place to finish work in the area, resulting in a diversion of around 20 miles.

Closures around Drusillas Roundabout will take place from Monday, November 28, to Friday, December 2, and from Monday, December 5, until Saturday, December 17.

To accommodate the work between the roundabout and Polegate, a diversion will be in place from December 5 along the A26 and A22.

For the first set of closures, a two-way traffic light system will also operate.

The majority of roadworks will take place overnight, with the 20-mile diversion in place from 8pm until 6am the following day.

The first set of closures in Station Road will, however, be in force between 9am and 4pm.

Improvement work is focused on repairs to the Folkington footpath along the A27. Surfacing work will also be carried out on some roads.
