Fans in Brighton have packed pubs and clubs to cheer on the Three Lions despite a lacklustre draw against USA in the World Cup.

Supporters felt dejected after the 0-0 game where the team failed to build momentum after previously beating Iran 6-2.

After the big win against Iran on Monday, November 21, England fans are now turning their attention to old enemy Wales who will prove a hard test on Tuesday.

Before the game, friends Charlie, Charlie, Charlie and Harley at Pryzm predicted that England would “smash” the USA.

Having watched the win against Iran, Charlie added that the game was “unbelievable” but that he “can’t remember it”.

The group all predicted wins for England ranging from 5-0 to 2-0.

As the game went on, fans became less and less optimistic and while they still thought England would win, the margins became slimmer and slimmer.

Watching the game at The Quadrant in North Street, Daniel Tombs, 29, said that England were "scared" shortly before half time but that "positivity wins all".

Nonetheless, against the USA he said thought that England would win "1-0 if We're lucky" but that for the World Cup "we'll win all the way".

At Ye Olde King and Queen in Marlborough Place, Ron Averbuch, 29, from Canada, said he was “supporting the union” rather than his international neighbours.

He said: “The team that wants it more always wins but I think England are underperforming so far.”

For Canada, Ron thought that they would go out in the group stages. For England, he predicted that the team would “go all the way”.

After the game, fans were disappointed, with Jim, Zack, James and Alex saying England played “not very well”.

Zack added: “The difference was there was no creativity and no balls for Kane to run on to.”

The group did point out, however, that the last time England drew their second group game in a tournament was against Scotland in Euro 2021, where they made the final. In their words: “It’s still coming home”.

England will now face Wales on Tuesday, November 29. If they win they secure a place in the knockout stages.
