We often hear of elderly people being ill-treated or having bad experiences in care or nursing homes and I would like to express my thanks to Meadowcroft, Buckingham Road, Shoreham, for being so different. I would like to tell relatives of any elderly person in the process of going into a home that they are not all bad.

My mother Joan Andrews recently passed away having been diagnosed with terminal cancer, a frightening and traumatic experience for both her and her family.

Not being able to cope physically or emotionally with the illness we found a place of sanctuary at Meadowcroft. The owner Rachel Mohidin and her staff made my mother's final weeks safe and secure and she felt comforted and happy in the knowledge that this was "home" for her - not just a place to go to - and they truly cared.

I will never be able to express in words how grateful I am that my mum was cared for there and for the help and support they gave to her, me and my family.

Thank you is not always enough.
