Schoolfriends of a teenage girl who died after a motorcycle crash have paid tribute to her.

They released balloons and played music as they remembered India Buchanan, 17, from Rustington.

India was the pillion passenger on the motorbike when it crashed. She died on Monday, November 21, three days after the accident.

A 25-year-old man, who was driving, suffered serious injuries.

Friends from Angmering School, where India was a pupil, gathered at Angmering Bowl skate park yesterday afternoon.

Amanda Buchanan-Hills, India’s mum, said her daughter loved to go to Angmering Bowl with her friends.

Balloons were released and music was played, along with the roar of a motorbike.

Amanda told The Argus: “It was beyond overwhelming and heart-breaking, but most importantly it was what India would have loved.”

She said there will be another tribute with hundreds of the biking community coming together to celebrate India’s life.

She added: “The biking community have been wonderfully supportive to India’s stepdad Lee and I.”

The fatal crash happened on the evening of Friday, November 18, at Crockhurst Hill on the A27 in Salvington.

Sussex Police said India's next of kin were being supported by specially trained officers.

The force has been approached for comment.
