Putting up the Christmas tree is always a special thing to do with loved ones. 

And there's nothing like the family trip to go and pick you own to get you in the festive mood.

Many farms, garden centres and markets across Sussex open their doors each winter to sell real Christmas trees. 

The Argus has put together a guide to some of the places on your doorstep where you can get into the festive spirit and find your perfect tree.

The Argus:

1. The Open Market, Brighton

Throughout December, vendors selling real Nordmann Fir christmas trees are at the Open Market in Brighton.

Trees range in price from around £25 up to £50 and many come with a wooden base. 

2. Rushfields Plant Centre, Poynings 

Open 9am to 5.30pm Tuesday to Sunday, this plant centre in Rushfields sells a range of Christmas trees to suit your space. 

They also sell artifical trees if you are looking to invest in one that can be used year after year.

3. Wilderness Wood, Uckfield 

At the 62-acre site in Uckfield, Wilderness Wood adds some extra fun to its Christmas tree offer by allowing shoppers to cut their own. 

You can also purchase pre-cut trees and they are open every day until December 21. 

Prices start at £26 and they sell trees as tall as 12ft for £120. 

4.  Ben GC's Christmas Trees, Brighton

Ben GC has been delivering Christmas trees to the people of Brighton and Hove for three years. 

His trees are "high grade" non-drop Nordmann Fir and the price includes delivery. 

Deliveries are Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm. 

Prices start at £39 and you can also buy a reusable stand to go with it.

5. Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm, Catsfield 

Selling five different types of Christmas tree, Catsfield farm is open every day until Christmas Eve. 

The farm is a short drive from Bexhill, Eastbourne and Hastings.

Although their 'choose and cut' your own tree option is no longer available, they have plenty of freshly cut trees still for sale. 

6. Paradise Park Dobbie's, Newhaven

Selling trees from environmentally managed plantations across Scotland, Dobbie's also offers a 10 per cent discount on its trees for electric vehicle users. 

Their trees are of the Nordmann Fir variety and prices start at £20.

7. Hollingdean Road, Brighton

Nestled just off Lewes Road near Sainsbury's, Hollingdean Road is host to a Christmas tree vendor. 

Just by the railway line, there is a range of trees of all different shapes and sizes, and they also offer home delivery.
