Double murderer Mark Brown was “adept at living a double life”, police said.

Brown was convicted of killing two women by a unanimous jury at Hove Crown Court on Thursday, December 1.

The former Brighton hotel security guard torched one of the victims’ bodies in an oil drum at Little Bridge Farm near Hastings.

At the time, he lived with partner Lisa Clarke and their sons a short drive from the shipping container in a barn where he murdered the women.

Only charred teeth and bone fragments remained of single mum-of-two Alex Morgan, 34.

No trace of mum-of-three Leah Ware, 33, has ever been found.

But how did he disguise his “double life” for so long.

The 41-year-old bragged about always being one step ahead of the law.

Brown told an old schoolfriend: “I’m not proud of a lot of the things I’ve done but never hurt anyone who didn’t deserve it.

“I was a bad man, I admit it.

“I'm clever enough to have got away with it too.”

He has one son with Ms Clarke, who has another two sons from a previous relationship.

Brown rented the barn at Little Bridge Farm near Hastings where he murdered Leah Ware and Alex Morgan and incinerated their bodies for at least four years.

Police believe Brown is an “extremely dangerous man” whose need for risky sex could have caused him to kill again.

He controlled every aspect of Leah Ware’s life including her money and medication.

Brown’s activities stepped up after the death of his parents.

His father died in November 2017, followed by his mother in March 2018.

Brown and his sister inherited £100,000.

He sold the family home and kept control of the money.

He carried on collecting Leah’s benefits after the murder, pocketing at least £12,000.

Within days of murdering her, Brown had selected his next victim. At least four more women visited Little Bridge Farm.

Alex Morgan was murdered in the same shipping container and her body was burnt the same way.

Detectives believe his ease of movements and lack of remorse showed just how dangerous he was.
