Bomb disposal crews have been called to a beach to respond to an incident.

Coastguard and Royal Navy bomb disposal units were seen at the beach in Littlehampton.

Members of the Coastguard and the Navy worked together in order to deal with the incident which happened on Monday, November 5 at around 12.20pm.

It has since been confirmed that the response was to a false alarm.

A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "Littlehampton Coastguard Rescue Team did attend a report of possible ordnance today shortly after 12.20pm. However, this turned out to be a false alarm, albeit with good intent."
