Security services are moving people living in caravans near a playground after a nine-month battle.

Brighton and Hove City Council confirmed it had obtained a possession order to “move on” six people living in vans in the car park at Lynchet Close, which is near Hollingdean Park.

Sussex Security Service attended the site yesterday morning to clear the site of the caravans.

“We obtained a possession order to move on six people living in vans in the car park at Lynchet Close,” the council spokesman said.

“Today the High Court Sheriffs attended to enforce the order.”

Leeroy Zarghani, director of Sussex Security Services, said the caravans had been on the site for nine months and had been asked “numerous times” to move on by Brighton and Hove City Council.

He said the people had been “quite aggressive” and “rude” to council staff and so the council had gone to the courts to get them moved.

He said Sussex Security Services told the people on Monday that they had 24 hours to leave, and if they did not, their caravans would be towed.

Yesterday morning, when team members attended the site, two men came out of the caravans and left.

Sussex Security Services said the caravans would be put into storage.

The caravan owners will have seven days to reclaim the trailers.
