With reference to the story about the bee orchids which were destroyed in Mill Hill, Shoreham, by verge cutters (The Argus, May 19), there was another colony of these rare and beautiful flowers which was destroyed by verge cutters near the Cliffe Industrial Estate in Lewes.
With the threat of global warming, development and habitat loss, our flora and fauna is at greater risk than ever before. We need to preserve our countryside, not destroy it in this wanton way.
- Joy Greenfall, West Street, Lewes
