Police have arrested a man after an altercation in a busy high street.
Numerous emergency services vehicles swarmed outside a pub on Lewes High Street yesterday where a man was arrested on suspicion of assault.
At around 1.40pm on Tuesday, January 10, police and critical care paramedics descended on the town centre following reports of an "altercation" at a premises in the high street.
Police say a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, and remains in custody.
Drivers said traffic was able to pass by the incident slowly after it blocked most of the road.
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or on 101 and quote serial 570 of 10/01.
