A police officer is to appear in court after being charged with sexually assaulting a woman.
Michael Sinden, 34, has been charged with sexual assault by penetration in Eastbourne on March 10, 2022.
Sinden, a Sussex Police inspector, has been suspended from duty after being charged with the offence.
The incident is said to have taken place while Sinden was off duty. The woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted was known to him.
Sinden will appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 25.
The matter has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct and a local investigation has been recommended.
